I grew up with practically no exposure to Western music until the late 80s. I missed lots of music from the 1960s and 1970s. Once I did start listening to Western music in my homeland, I got a taste of earlier music. I was still ignorant of most Western songs up to the mid-1980s.
Then I moved to the US and got much more exposure to Western music, including music going all the way back to the 1950s. Not only by hearing the songs the radio was playing but also some friends introduced them to me.
I took a liking to them, especially from the mid-1960s through the 1970s. Some of them really fit my taste/ears and became my favorites. I would like to mention them here.
